Getting 180 children back to school after summer vacation!

Shishu  Vikash Vidya Mandir, Khandagiri Bari, Bhubaneswar – a school for  underprivileged children from LKG to Class VIII, was severely damaged  during cyclone Fani dated 3rd May, 2019, and was not in a condition to  resume classes for the 180 children when schools were to open on  17thJune, 2019. An estimated INR 8 lakhs were  required for repairing  and rebuilding damaged portions of the school and make it operational.

To  aid in the reopening of the school, we at Unmukt Foundation initiated a  fundraiser campaign on The fundraiser link can be accessed  via:

Despite  not managing to raise enough funds in the first week, we risked  starting construction. Even with severe financial and labour  constraints, we managed to restore the classrooms, so that when finally  the said date arrived, SVVM Khandagiri Bari reopened for children of all  classes - from LKG, UKG to Class VIII.

Finishing work on the construction is currently going on, beyond which we plan to build a playground for the school.
