Picture this: You are old. The world moves a little too fast now. Your hands, once strong, hold onto memories more tightly than things. You have lived deeply—seen harvests, heartbreaks, births, and goodbyes—but your stories sit quietly beside you, waiting. Not for applause, just for a listener.
There are no microphones. No headlines. Just a gentle yearning: Will someone ask? Will someone care to know what I carry?
Gapa Hi Jibana was born from this silence. To say: We are here. We are listening.
Gapa Hi Jibana is Unmukt Foundation’s heartfelt tribute to the elders who hold lifetimes within them—stories etched in silence, waiting for a listener. Through gentle, one-on-one conversations, young volunteers sat not just to hear, but to witness: the tremble in a voice recalling love, the pause between memories, the sparkle of something long tucked away.
What emerged was not just storytelling—it was connection. It was healing. It was the quiet, powerful act of saying, "You matter. Your story matters."
These lived moments now rest within a published anthology—a book that holds not just pages, but people.
A legacy of listening. A promise that no life will be forgotten.
Segment of the population it served
Elderly individuals with rich, untold stories and young people seeking connection, belonging, and meaning.

Focus Areas
Gapa Hi Jibana focused on restoring dignity through storytelling, nurturing empathy in youth, and preserving the living heritage of our elders—one memory, one conversation at a time.
Across verandahs and tea-stained notebooks, memories were unearthed—gently, joyfully. Elders felt seen again. Youth felt rooted again. And something precious was passed from one hand to another: understanding.
Today, these stories live on in the published anthology Gapa Hi Jibana—a book not just of words, but of souls remembered.
It is a quiet reminder that every life is a story. And every story deserves to be held with love.
