Our Story

Unmukt Foundation was founded in 2017 on the three core ideas: giving children access to formal and non-formal education that will supplement and fill the gaps of mainstream education, promoting sensitivity towards the environment and showcasing local indigenous culture.

Our mission is to create a space – where kids choose, co-create, co-exists and co-excel; where individuals unshackle their inner artist; where communities learn to care for mother earth. We wish to create a sustainable lifestyle in harmony with nature. Our single-minded attention is on children, for they carry the weight of the future of this planet.

Unmukt Creativity Center at Khandagiri forms the base of our work. It’s a space for children, a space for art, a space for free thinking. Unmukt, meaning azaad, free, unleashed – is meant to challenge the little boxes we have confined ourselves, and our children to. Unmukt intends to break open all such boxes, and give free reign to our dreams.

We have been conducting regular activities and classes like - Prakriti Ki Paathshala (Nature’s Class), Storytelling and Theatre, Computational Thinking, Self-defense, Art & Craft, etc. for school kids.

While we have primarily worked with over 100 underprivileged children from 5 bastis in Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar, Unmukt seeks to change, rather revolutionize the entire children’s education space in our country.
